Code of Conduct ╰(▔∀▔)╯

Introduction

Welcome to our community! As a left-leaning and minority-friendly space, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment. Our Code of Conduct is designed to ensure that all members feel safe, respected, and valued. We encourage open discussions, diverse perspectives, and mutual respect, as we work together to maintain a community where everyone can thrive.

Content

We have some specific and strict content policies on all glitched.systems spaces for the protection of our members.

Guidelines

  • Be respectful to everyone. Treat others the way you want to be treated.
  • Engage with others in good faith. Try to see where they're coming from instead of needlessly escalating.
  • In the event that someone is espousing harmful views or is disrespecting users, contact a moderator to deal with them.
  • Before sending someone a DM, make sure they consent to it. Unless they're a mod, mods are always okay to DM.
  • Spoiler and provide a content warning for content that may be unpleasant, triggering, or when requested.
  • If you're about to link to content that's behind a login gate (Twitter, Instagram, etc), then a screenshot or text of the content should be shared along with the link.

Disallowed Conduct

  • Discrimination, including but not limited to:

    • Racism
    • Sexism
    • Homophobia
    • Transphobia
    • Ableism
  • General exclusionary behavior.
  • Stalking, harassment, dogpiling, and any other behavior intended to intimidate or provoke others.
  • Conduct promoting Nazism, fascism, xenophobia, white supremacy, and any related authoritarian or alt-right ideology.
  • Genocide, apartheid, or segregation apologia.
  • Calling for violence.
  • Threats of suicide.
  • Doxxing.
  • Illegal pornographic material and any analogous illustrated material.
  • Overly combative or otherwise disruptive behavior.
  • Inviting bots into spaces without the express consent of the admins.
  • Having profile nicks, pics, or ids that contain disallowed conduct.
  • Rules lawyering, staying borderline to the rules, or finding loopholes to the rules.

Politics

Political topics and discussions should be kept to designated politics areas. What counts as a political topic is up to moderator discretion.

Mental Health

Discussion of heavy mental health topics such as (but not limited to) trauma, suicide, or self harm should be kept to designated areas and spoilered accordingly.

Moderation Guidelines

Basic Principles

  • When people first join the community, the initial culture and conversations they see act as a powerful example.

    • If the first thing people see when they join is high-quality discussion, they will expect it to be the standard and will try to uphold that standard.
    • Mods should strongly influence conversations toward meaningful, high-quality interactions. Shitposting should be steered away from serious discussion channels.
  • Instead of reactive moderation and focusing on punishments and infraction, treat people as humans and ask them to change the way they're acting.

    • We do not implement a strike system, a point system, or any kind of progressive punishment system.
    • Timed mutes and short-term bans are ineffective at resolving conflicts, and only seem to work because they briefly remove the source.
    • Systems like these only multiply the amount of needed moderation work, push people away, and create a culture of fear around moderators.
    • Staff should not be combative or aggressive towards members, especially not in retaliation.
    • Most conflict is caused by a small set of recalcitrant, high-conflict people. Identifying these people early, before they can have a large effect on the server culture, is crucial.
  • Feel free to ask any questions you have, even if they seem obvious, or bring up any problems you may have with rules, decisions, or other moderators.

    • If you do not feel comfortable raising these concerns in public, always feel free to DM an Admin.
  • Don't be afraid to act. If someone, even a long-time member of the community or a member of staff, is causing issues, don't hesitate to pull them out of the conversation and ask them about it. People who are resistant to changing the way they interact with the community might not be the best fit to stay in it.
